Speaker: Garrett M. Levin, DVM, DACVS
Topic: Surgical Pearls in Practice
Dr. Garrett Levin, originally from California, earned his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from the University of California at Davis in 1994. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University, School of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. Dr. Levin completed a one-year Small Animal Medicine and Surgery Internship in 2000 at The Animal Medical Center in New York. Following his internship, Dr. Levin continued at The Animal Medical Center and completed a three-year comprehensive Residency in small animal orthopedics, soft tissue, and neurosurgery in 2003. Since his residency, he has served as Staff Surgeon at a small animal referral and emergency hospital in Los Angeles, California and Medical Director and Chief of Surgery at a small animal referral and emergency hospital in Massachusetts. Dr. Levin has received board certification and is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. Dr. Levin is currently a Staff Surgeon at NorthStar VETS.
Dr. Levin’s areas of special interest include orthopedic surgery (fracture repair and TPLO surgery for cranial cruciate ligament repair), soft tissue surgery (oncologic and thoracic), neurosurgery (intervertebral disc disease), stem cell therapy, and emergency and trauma surgery. He performs a wide range of minimally invasive surgeries including arthroscopy, thoracoscopy, and laparoscopy.
